I LOVE MY MOMMA!!!!!!!!

HEY CLASS...NICE JOB WITH THE POLITICAL PAGES. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE!  I'M BEGINNING TO THINK WE SHOULD DO SOME RESEARCH ALONG THESE LINES SOMETIME BEFORE ELECTIONS. WHAT DO YOU THINK? LET ME KNOW RIGHT HERE ON THE FRONT PAGE!

--> I think the research idea is great. Maybe if people were aware if each candidates thoughts and ideas, their oppinions would be based on actual facts rather than false information.   - Samantha =]

I completly agree samantha. I think that when you make a statement about anyone you need the facts first. ---Chris

I agree with Samantha and Chris. :)   - Laiken

Friday, October 17

  • Quiz on S.A.T words (first 15). Remember--ALL the words from last time, plus five from this week will be tested.
  • Should there be a quiz on the Fahrenheit material you read for today?
  • Finish discussion of "The Most Dangerous Game" analysis (yes, really!!!). BRING YOUR GROUP ANALYSIS TO CLASS !
  • Fahrenheit 451: Discuss and go over the Study Guide

Thursday, October 16

Classroom

  • Finish your Fahrenheit 451 projects. They must be done by the end of the period--hopefully before lunch.
  • Let another team read your project and talk to you about it. You will be given a rubric to help you think through your efforts. Please be HONEST with the group you are assessing. This will NOT be a grade; it's just practice and an opportunity for you to improve your project.
    • Do they think you covered your topic well?
    • Do they have suggestions for you?
    • Can you improve your project? If so, make some changes.
    • Don't worry about the "Oral Presentation" included on the rubric. You will present your project on Monday.
  • If you have time after finishing your projects, you may read Fahrenheit 451--outside in the courtyard (between the old gym and Building A) if it's okay with the substitute teacher.

FAHRENHEIT 451 PROJECT GUIDELINES--after looking at "the beginnings"

 1. Use 3-5 sources, NOT including your pictures. Keep in mind that a search engine (Google, for instance) is not a source!

 2. When you use a quote, place the URL at the end of the quote.

 3. Don't depend almost entirely on just one source (like Wikipedia, for example).

 4. Instead of using a huge "cut and paste" from a website, summarize in your own words (again citing your source). You can then tell us where to find more information.

 5. Provide us with several links to other good sources so that we can learn more about your topic.

 6. Pictures are nice in an online project, so include some if you can. You may either place the URL with the picture or make the picture the actual link. (Ask me if you need to see the "how-to" again.

 7. Please ask questions about research during class if you need help. That's why I'm here!
